Yesterday (28-11-2010) I was with my usual birding companions (Julio Meraz, Guille Mayor and Jana Marco), as well as a large group of birders Alicante, visiting by gaps of Mancha Pétrola Area.
Apart from enjoying a day birdwatching and enjoying nature, had a second goal, Bimba the boy patigualdo redshank (Tringa flavipes , Lesser Yellowlegs) which has lasted for a while area (see here )
went out on a cold morning (with an annoying wind, which increased this feeling) and cloudy, but we still get together a lot of people. About 10:00 am we began our wandering from one place to another in search of some good observations.
The first to march in front of us were the bustards (Otis tarda , Great bustard), which moved through fallow fields accompanied by groups of crows (Corvus corone , Carrion Crow) .
in Hoya Grande Lagoon increase the number of species rapidly: teals ( Netta Rufina , Red-crested Pochard) coot (Fulica atra , Coot), teal (Anas crecca , Teal), flamenco (Phoenicopterus ruber , Flamingo) .. . and as more interesting, four common geese (Anser anser , Greylag goose) and two brown jugs (Aythya nyroca , Ferruginosus duck).
From here, we went to Petrol, where we expected the patigualdo redshank. After a slow approach on foot failed to detect with three fighters ( Philomachus pugnax, Ruff) and Kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrinus , Kentish plover).
What we saw all too well. Look at all the details of this curious bird difrutar heartily. Was only after the arrival of a common sandpiper (Calidris alpina , Dunlin) not so well endured and fled our presence very soon, followed by redshank.
With the observation we went across the lagoon to see what was moving there. Highlighted a small group of Wigeon (Anas penelope , Wigeon) which, in my opinion, is one of the coolest European ducks.
After that, we went for shelter to the restaurant and eat, what we'd won.
